Moon Observations

The moon plays a significant role in Earth’s climate, stability, and life, including: 

• Tides
  The moon’s gravitational pull causes the Earth’s oceans to bulge, creating high and low tides. When the sun, moon, and Earth are aligned, spring tides occur, which are higher high tides and lower low tides. 

• Climate
  The moon’s orbit and gravitational pull help keep Earth’s axis pointed in a consistent direction, which leads to a more stable climate. Without the moon, Earth’s seasons would have fluctuated more over time. 

• Life
  The moon’s phases affect the migration and navigation of many animals, especially birds. Some animals also time their reproduction based on the lunar cycle. 

• Earth’s magnetic field
  The moon’s gravitational forces, along with Earth’s rotation, affect the motion in Earth’s core, which generates the Earth’s magnetic field. 

• Rainfall
  When the moon is overhead, its gravity causes the Earth’s atmosphere to bulge, which increases the pressure and temperature of the air
  
  
• Metaphysical
  The moon symbolizes deep feelings, emotion, completion, and spiritual growth. It also symbolizes nature, its blind and driving forces, the passing and return of its seasons. The moon is associated with enlightenment and the Divine Feminine energy.
